Annual Stocking Stuffer Sale Supports Historical Society, Local Artists and Businesses

A local tradition at the Centre Furnace Mansion will help welcome the holiday season this weekend.

More than 50 regional fine artists, antique dealers, crafters and dedicated Historical Society volunteers have been working year round planning and preparing for the 16th Annual Stocking Stuffer on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.The event supports the work of area artists and businesses, and proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the Centre County Historical Society for its preservation and public programming efforts. 

When you have finished your shopping, enjoy hot cider and holiday cookies, donated by local bakers and restaurants, to get in the holiday spirit from the generous donations of local bakers and restaurants. 

Centre Furnace Mansion’s dining room, grand front hall and parlors will be festively decorated for the holiday season through the generosity of some of Centre County’s finest florists: Avant Garden, Daniel Vaughn Design, and Woodrings Floral Gardens. Boughs, berries, bulbs and bows will bedeck the Mansion’s exterior and Hearth Room contributed by Tait Farm Christmas Trees and the Centre Furnace Mansion Gardeners.

Some of the sales offerings include: Holiday wreaths and swags prepared by the Centre Furnace Mansion Gardeners, ceramics, fine paper arts, pewter, books, decorative soaps, china and glassware, antiques and vintage collectibles, linens, needlework, photography, jewelry, something for everyone. The Historical Society’s museum store also features beautiful commemorative pewter ornaments created by local pewter artist Jerry Jackson along with many books on local history.

New this year, in response to many cookie recipe requests, the Stocking Stuffer Cookie Cookbook features recipes of all who have contributed cookies to the sale.

Book signing events during the sale include:

  • Friday, November 30, 10 a.m. Ralph Seeley, ‘Native People and Their Paths in Central Pennsylvania.’
  • Friday, November 30, 2 p.m.: Roger Williams, ‘Evan Pugh’s Penn State.’
  • Saturday, December 1, 11 a.m.: Mimi Barash Coppersmith, ‘Eat First, Cry Later’
  • Saturday, December 1, 2 p.m.: Jodi Moore, author of children’s books ‘When a Dragon Moves In,’ ‘When a Dragon Moves in Again,’ and ‘Good News Nelson’
  • Sunday, December 2, 2 p.m.: Ron Smith, ‘Nailed to the Crossbar.’ 

Wreath and Swag Making Demonstrations, presented by the Centre Furnace Mansion Gardeners will take place at these times:

  • Friday, November 30 @ 10 a.m. & 1 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 1 @ 10 a.m. & 1 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 2 @ 1 p.m.

STOCKING STUFFER SALE DETAILS

ADMISSION: General Admission: $5 – includes hot mulled cider and holiday cookies. Admission tickets are valid for re-admission throughout the weekend.

WHEN: Friday, November 30, and Saturday, December 1, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.; Sunday, December 2, noon – 4 p.m.

WHERE: The Centre Furnace Mansion, 1001 E. College Ave., State College

Parking is available in the mansion’s parking lot off of Porter Road and in the grass area in front of the building.
