Child Luring Suspect Aims to Have Case Resolved by Summer

The Port Matilda man accused of attempting to lure a young girl into his car hopes to have his case resolved by summer.

Bradley Freeman, 20, has been charged with felony child luring for offering an 11-year-old girl a ride to school the morning of March 24. But Matt McClenehan, Freeman’s defense attorney, says that description of the incident paints his client in an inaccurate light.

“It appears clear to everyone involved in this case that Mr. Freeman is not a pedophile, nor is he a danger to the community,” McClenehan says. “It seems that we will be able to resolve this case amicably.”

According to his affidavit of probable cause, Freeman told police officers that he offered the girl a ride to school because it was very cold outside and he was trying to be a Good Samaritan.

Freeman also reportedly acknowledged that his offer could’ve been seen as “creepy,” and told police that he had no sexual intent and did not mean to frighten the girl. He told police that he was leaving a friend’s house that morning, which is why he happened to be in the College Heights area of State College.

Freeman was arraigned on $75,000 unsecured bail, and waived his right to a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday morning.

“The next step is a pretrial conference in July, and we hope to have the case resolved by then,” McClenehan says.
