Expect Traffic Detours for Friday’s Penn State Homecoming Parade

State College police say residents can expect traffic detours Friday for the Penn State Homecoming Parade.

The parade starts at 6 p.m.

It will form in the parking lots on Porter and Curtain Roads then travel the following route:

– South on Bigler Road to Pollock Road

– West on Pollock Road to Shortlidge Road

– South on Shortlidge Road to College Avenue

– West on College Avenue to Burrowes Road

– North on Burrowes Road

– Parade will disperse north of Pollock Road

Drivers may experience some traffic delays during the parade. Westbound traffic on East College Avenue will be detoured onto University Drive.

The parade route will be closed to vehicle traffic from about 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Parking along the route will be restricted.

Good Morning America co-host Lara Spencer was named the 2014 Homecoming Grand Marshal at the annual Be A Part From The Start pep rally Sunday. Spencer will join Lunar Lion Team Leader Michael Paul, who was named the Honorary Grand Marshal for the event back in April. The Nittany Lions face off with Northwestern on Saturday.
