As Ferguson Township completes major updates to its zoning and subdivision and land development (SALDO) ordinances, residents with questions are invited to an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 21) at the township municipal building, 3147 Research Drive.
Staff have been working with Environmental Planning & Design of Pittsburgh on the updates for nearly two years.
At the open house, the new zoning map, overviews of each zoning district, the lot/dwelling relationship example for the Rural Agricultural Zoning District, and the land use regulations summary table will be on display.
The zoning map was updated on Jan. 21 and displays the township’s zoning districts and Riparian Buffer Overlay Districts. The newly Source Water Protection Overlay went into effect as of Wednesday.
See the zoning map here.
Residents may wish to ask if the zoning is changing and what the current zoning designation is on their properties, requirements for placing a shed or other accessory building, how to get started if they want to subdivide their land, how the zoning ordinance has changed and how the township has taken into consideration potential requests for different uses in the future.
Planning and Zoning Director Raymond Stolinas, Zoning Administrator Jeff Ressler, Community Planner Lindsay Schoch, and Township Manager David Pribulka will be available to answer individual questions and will be joined by Carolyn Yagle, planning consultant from Environmental Planning & Design.
