Former U.S. Rep. Murphy to Speak at Centre Co. Democratic Event

UPDATED @ 3:35 p.m. March 23: The April 1 event featuring former U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy will be a chance for Centre County Democrats to ‘build a brain trust and honor’ the former Congressman, according to a news release issued this week.

An Iraq war veteran and former West Point assistant professor, Murphy is scheduled to speak at a private Democratic fundraising event in the county. Discussion will center on ‘a wide range of economic, social and environmental issues facing Pennsylvania and the country,’ county Democratic Chairman Greg Stewart said in the news release. ‘This is an opportunity for Centre County leaders to contribute financially and intellectually to the forward movement of the Democratic Party in Centre County and Pennsylvania.’

Former U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, a prominent Bucks County Democrat, will speak April 1 in Centre County at a county Democratic Committee gathering, the committee announced.

He’ll appear at a 21st Century Leadership Circle fundraising event from 6 to 8 p.m. that day, though the event location has yet to be announced, according to a committee statement.

The event will be free for current 21st Century Leadership Circle members. For those who aren’t members, attendance will require a per-person donation of $250. (Members of the Leadership Circle are those who give at least $250 a year to the county Democratic Committee.)
