Penn State student Paulina Oleinik is living out her senior year with some unusual roommates.

She’s a live-in employee at the Penn State horse barns, where she shares the space with four other Penn State students and 24 horses. The situation is unique, and Oleinik says friends and family have a hard time believing she actually lives inside a barn.

‘I’ve had to take pictures of me walking into the room, or a video of me in the room, because it doesn’t even make sense to them,’ she said.

For Oleinik, it’s a special experience to be able to earn money while caring for and overseeing the equines. And the number of her barnmates will soon grown by one, as the horse closest to her room is expected give birth any day now.
