Hundreds of Power Outages Reported in Centre County

UPDATED @ 10:41 a.m. Sunday: By 10:40 a.m. Sunday, about 220 Allegheny Power customers in Centre County were still without power, according to the company website. Most were in the Centre Hall area. A handful were in the Boalsburg, Bellefonte, Centre Hall and Spring Mills areas.

Hundreds of Allegheny Power customers across Centre County were without electricity Saturday evening, the power company reported.

According to its website, 749 customers in Boalsburg were without power shortly after 8 p.m. The difficulty there was cited as trouble on a main line, the Allegheny site showed.

Elsewhere in the county, 55 customers were without power in Bellefonte; more than 150, in Centre Hall; more than 50, in Howard; and about 20, in Spring Mills. Problems were noted as a variety of equipment issues, including blown fuses, according to the company website.

It was not immediately clear when service may be fully restored. An Allegheny spokesman said crews are working as quickly as possible, but are contending with ongoing windy conditions and downed tree limbs. He said some customers may be without service until 11 p.m. Sunday.

Rain and strong winds have pummeled the region for much of Saturday. A flood warning is scheduled to expire at 10:45 p.m., according to AccuWeather.com. A flash flood watch is in effect Saturday night, as well.
