*ndulge Closing Last Centre County Store

*ndulge, the boutique cupcake bakery and gelato shop on West College Avenue, will close its doors for good on Saturday after disappointing sales were not enough to keep it afloat in downtown State College. 

In August, the Bellefonte location closed. The owners will be relocating to the suburbs of Philadelphia, in Bryn Mawr, Pa., in an effort to see if their sweet treats will appeal to a different constituency. 

Rebecca Altman is the general manager of the *ndulge that has less than 48 hours left at its 206 W. College Ave. location. She said her time in State College and in Bellefonte was special, just ‘not enough.’

‘We simply don’t have enough of a population to support us,’ Altman said. ‘I wish we could encourage the town folk.’

Altman said the cupcake boutique experienced the same hardships as many downtown locations do, seeing a drop in revenue during the months when classes aren’t in session. As for Bellefonte, she saw it as more of a niche in which *ndulge did not fit. 

‘Bellefonte is a tough town,’ Altman said. 

Nevertheless, Altman said *ndulge’s run in Centre County was a good one. 

‘We’ve had a wonderful two and a half years,’ Altman said.
