Penn State Basketball: The men’s basketball team will have four open roster spots going into the off-season. Two players, Andrew Off and Adam Highberger will graduate next year. Two others, Chris Babb and Bill Edwards, will transfer because they said they want to be closer to home, according to an article in theDaily Collegian.

Local Bars: The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement makes its annual age-compliance checks at downtown bars. The officers send an undercover underage buyer to a local bar to try to buy alcohol. The LCE has buckled down since last year when the student-created State Patty’s Day shed a negative light on Penn State, but officers still find holes in the system. Future Research Lab: Penn state received a $14.8 million grant from the National Center for Research Resources. The money will be used to finance the construction of a new bioresearch lab set to begin in 2011. For more details see the Centre Daily Times article.

Penn State Wrestling: Senior Dan Vallimont lost his 165-match at 2010 NCAA Wrestling Championships to No. 1 seed Andrew Howe of Wisconsin yesterday. His defeat placed him as National Runner-Up and put Penn State wrestling in ninth place at the event.
