Longtime recruiting analyst Brian Snow is set to be announced as Penn State men’s basketball director of recruiting. Penn State has yet to confirm or announce the news, but a source indicated such an announcement was imminent and Snow for his part, changed his Twitter bio and photo to reflect such a hiring. The news was also reported by a handful of recruiting specialists.
Snow announced in late March that he was leaving the 247 Network, timing that came not long after the announcement Penn State had hired Micah Shrewsberry as head coach.
“I am excited about what the future holds, and am looking forward to a new and exciting challenge,” Snow said at the time in a tweet. “After spending over a decade and a half in the industry, change was needed, and that change begins today. Thanks to all involved, and good luck going forward.”
Snow is a widely respected name in basketball recruiting circles and figures to bring Shrewsberry’s staff insight and connections from across the country. Penn State is looking to reload an otherwise empty 2021 class and perhaps more importantly nail down or all three of a key trio of prospects in 2022 cycle.
According to a previous job listing the Director of Recruiting is responsible for the following.
- Coordinate all aspects of recruiting of prospective-student athletes
- Responsible for recruiting logs, recruiting calendars and knowing NCAA recruiting rules
- Coordinate on-campus recruiting visits/activities
- Oversee all aspects of creative video operations relating to recruiting and social media.
- Access video of prospective student-athletes for recruiting purposes.
- Work with Creative Services regarding prospective recruiting videos for social media.
- Work with Creative Services regarding graphics for recruiting, the program, and social media
- Responsible for organizing recruiting travel
- Develop in home recruiting presentations
- Supervise student graphic managers
- Responsible for organizing film social media content during practices and workouts
- Other duties as assigned by the head coach and designated assistant coaching staff
