Penn State Football: Athlon Names Franklin And Staff No.9 In The Nation

James Franklin and his staff have turned quite a few heads on the recruiting trail and Athlon Sports has taken notice naming Franklin and his staff the 9th best in the nation heading into the 2014 season.

How good Franklin and company truly are probably won’t be known until the program has stumbled out from under NCAA sanctions.

What is clear is that Franklin has been able to pull together all of the pieces required to build a nationally relevant program. Big name recruits, booster finances and administrative support are all playing their part in the early stages of Franklin’s tenure.

The true test in the coming years will be how quickly Franklin is able to put the sanctions behind the program. The lure of early playing time won’t always be a reality for recruits to buy into.

Certainly, the Franklin era has given people a reason to talk and a reason to feel that as the 2014 season draws closer so too will some tangible results for Franklin and his staff.
