Three former Penn State football players will be headed to Honolulu a month from now for the 2013 Pro Bowl on Jan. 27 in Aloha Stadium.
Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake (formerly Derek Wake) and Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali were both named to the AFC roster as starters, while San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman will make his first Pro Bowl appearance as a reserve for the NFC.
Wake is currently fourth in the NFL with 15 sacks on the season and has also forced three fumbles through 15 games. Hali has nine sacks on the season, and Bowman is third in the league with 144 total tackles. The third-year player also has two sacks and an interception on the season.
Wake last played for Penn State in 2004, while Hali graduated after a memorable 2005 season. Bowman left for the NFL after his junior season in 2009. With the 49ers having clinched a playoff spot, Bowman will not participate in the Pro Bowl festivities should the 49ers make it to the Super Bowl.
