State College borough has announced traffic restrictions to accommodate the annual Penn State Homecoming Parade, scheduled for Friday evening in the downtown.

The parade will line up near Porter and Curtin roads on the University Park campus. From there, starting at 6 p.m., it will travel south on Bigler Road to Pollock Road; west on Pollock to Shortlidge Road; south on Shortlidge to College Avenue; west on College to Burrowes Road; and north on Burrowes to the Pollock Road area.

According to a borough announcement, the parade route will be closed from about 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and parking on the route will be restricted. Motorists will need to move their parked vehicles from the area before the route closure, the borough reported.

Also, drivers may be delayed while the parade is happening, according to the borough. While the event is under way, westbound through traffic on East College Avenue will be rerouted onto Porter Road, then onto Park Avenue and finally to Atherton Street. Local traffic traveling west on East College Avenue will be allowed to exit onto University Drive, police said.
