A Penn State student told police that he or she was robbed on campus Thursday morning, according to a Timely Warning from the university.
Penn State police said the student reported being approached by two unknown males at about 6:45 a.m. outside of Thompson Hall in the West Halls housing complex. The student said the two males asked for money but did not display a weapon or say they had one.
The two suspects were wearing black hoodies, but no other description was available, according to the warning. Police said the alleged robbery was reported about six hours after it occurred.
Timely Warnings are required notifications that are sent to the university community to alert of a ‘potential or ongoing threat’ of reportable offenses under the Clery Act, which include violent crimes, motor vehicle theft and burglary.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Penn State University Police and Public Safety at 814-863-1111 or submit information online at police.psu.edu/report-crime.
This is the fourth Timely Warning issued by Penn State since the start of the spring 2019 semester. On Feb. 10, a student reported being assaulted and robbed outside of Nittany Apartments. No weapon was used in that incident, police said. The other two timely warnings were for sexual assaults that reportedly occurred in campus residence halls.
