State College police are asking Centre Region residents to make sure they lock their car doors.

The reminder came this week after several reported thefts from vehicles in the Houserville area of College Township. Police said those thefts happened overnight on March 13.

On the same night, police said, a residence was entered and items stolen.

‘The State College police believe that this was related to another rash of thefts which occurred on March 4,’ a news release reads. ‘A suspect has been identified and several stolen items have been recovered.’

Police said the suspect is lodged in the Mifflin County lockup on unrelated charges. They won’t release his identity until charges of burglary, theft from a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property are completed, police said.

Police also are asking residents to report any thefts to the State College police department.
