Police are asking witnesses to step forward as investigators try to figure out what caused a fatal bicycle accident in State College.
Duane Olson died last weekend after he rode his bicycle into a chain link fence post and cinder block wall. According to police, the 85-year-old man suffered severe head trauma.
Olson was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The accident happened at about 1:20 p.m. Saturday, behind the Firestone store in Hill’s Plaza just off South Atherton Street. Police have previously said that no other vehicle was involved and no foul play is suspected.
Olson, who lived nearby, reportedly did not have any sort of medical emergency before he crashed.
Investigators want to talk with anyone who may have seen Olson riding his bicycle in the area of Rolling Ridge Drive before the accident.
Police say Olson was riding a bright blue Trek mountain bike. He was wearing a white snap brim hat and carrying a cane.
