State College police are investigating two stolen-purse incidents reported Sunday at the Wal-Mart in College Township, 373 Benner Pike.
The first, reported at 4:54 p.m., involved a purse taken from a shopping cart, police said. The purse was recovered later, but was missing a wallet and a mobile phone, according to a police report.
Some $162 in fraudulent purchases were made later with a card that was in the wallet, police said.
In the second incident, reported at 6:47 p.m., a purse that a woman had left briefly on a soda-aisle shelf was taken. It has not been recovered, police said.
Among other State College police calls logged in recent days:
- A man identified as John Patterson, wanted on a felony-level warrant, was taken into custody Sunday evening at Kildare’s, 538 E. College Ave., police said. (Additional details of the warrant were not immediately available.)
- A man suffered a chipped tooth and minor cuts when he was punched at 234 E. Beaver Ave., the home of the local Kappa Alpha fraternity chapter, according to a police report. The incident was reported at 9:49 a.m. Sunday. The victim reportedly was hit after he stepped onto private property, police said. As of Monday afternoon, charges had not been filed.
- A man was punched and knocked out about 3 a.m. Sunday at South Fraser Street and West Beaver Avenue, police said. He was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment, according to a police report. Expected charges against the assailant will hinge in part on the extent of the victim’s injuries, police said.
- One hundred gallons of gasoline, oil and grease were reported stolen about 3:30 p.m. Saturday from a Harris Township farm at 1551 Linden Hall Road, police said. The fluids were worth about $435, according to a police report.
- More than a dozen pairs of women’s underwear were reported stolen from the laundry room at 821 Southgate Drive, police said. The report was filed Friday afternoon.
- Furniture that had been left for refuse collection at the Meridian apartment complex, 646 E. College Ave., was reported ablaze shortly before 6 p.m. Friday, police said. It was near a Dumpster toward the rear of the complex, according to a police report.
- Someone shot out a window of a CATA bus as the bus traveled on the 800 block of South Atherton Street, police said. That happened shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday, according to a police report. The person who shot out the window was outside the bus; the cost of the damage was estimated at $250, police said. The offender was not immediately identified.
