Police Still Seeking Man Who Led Officers on Downtown Chase

State College Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man who allegedly led officers on a downtown chase following an attempted traffic stop earlier this month.

Cody Bechdel, 30, of State College, is facing charges including a felony count of fleeing an officer after State College Police attempted to stop him for allegedly driving the wrong way in a black 2012 Chrysler 200 on the 100 block of East Calder Way at 2 p.m. on Sept. 2.

Police say Bechdel drove onto the sidewalk, turned onto South Pugh Street, then rammed through an exit gate into Pugh Street Parking Garage. Police pursued and Bechdel allegedly crashed into another vehicle on the third level before  leaving his vehicle and fleeing on foot, according to court documents.

Bechdel was identified through his Pennsylvania registration plate, and police say Bechdel’s photos from a previous arrest and past driver’s licenses matched the pursuing officer’s description of the person driving the car.

Bechdel (pictured) has a large identifiable tattoo down his left arm.
