State College has already weathered one snowstorm in recent days, but another is set to hit the Centre Region on Sunday evening and will bring even more snow than its predecessor.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the region.
Travel could become hazardous as roads pick up snow and ice throughout the evening. While State College has seen some light dusting Sunday afternoon, the brunt of the storm isn’t expected to pound the region until after 7 p.m.
AccuWeather Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski says snow accumulations could top out at around eight inches.
“There will be some lingering snow into Monday night and Tuesday, but not nearly as much as Sunday night,” Pydynowski says. “We’ll get light to moderate snow in the area but with the total amounts and the colder temperatures tonight, roads are going to become slick and have snow cover on them.”
For those of you planning to drive to work or school in the morning, Pydynowski says that you can expect a slushy commute.
“The snow will be light enough that main roads may be able to keep some off of them, but it’s safe to say that there will be snow cover and there will be an impact on morning commutes,” he says.
As always, it’s important to proceed with caution when there are slippery conditions, which may be the case for much of the next few days in State College and across the Centre Region.
