Sex Offense Reported at Bryce Jordan Center During THON

Penn State Police on Sunday received a report of an indecent assault/fondling that occurred in the Bryce Jordan Center during the final hours of THON.

According to a timely warning sent to students around 4:20 p.m., the reported assault occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Sunday and was reported to police at 1:25 p.m.

‘The victim, a student, reported an unknown male inappropriately touched her without consent,’ the message stated.

The warning reached the Penn State community shortly after THON revealed its 2018 fundraising total. The incident occurred near the start of the ‘Final Four’ of the 46-hour dance marathon, when THON captains were leading the special line dances from each of the last five years.

‘We were notified of a reported incident by the police,” THON 2018 Executive Director Andrew Smith said after THON. “They asked for our assistance with trying to identify… the person that committed the assault. We did our best to provide as much information as we could given the description we have of the individual. We handed it off to the police, and personally I haven’t heard any updates since.”
