Thanksgiving is one of busiest travel times of the year with millions of Americans on the move.

And this year, a late November snowstorm may cause travel headaches, depending on where you’re heading.

We’ll see some snow in State College, but nothing too severe.

Accuweather Senior Meteorologist Tom Kines says we’ll have some pockets of snow over the next couple of days.

“Locally we’re expecting a potpourri of stuff,” Kines says. “We’ll see precipitation [Tuesday] morning as snow, which will turn to sleet and rain as day wears on.”

Tuesday night should be mostly rain with some sleet thrown in, Kines says. Wednesday, however, is when the heavier snow will likely come.

“If we’re gonna see any accumulated snow [Wednesday] is when it would happen,” Kines says.

Kines says there could be anywhere from one to three inches of snow on Wednesday.

For anyone heading west for Thanksgiving, the drive could be more perilous. Kines says near the Pittsburgh area, more heavy snow will be expected.

On Thanksgiving day there won’t be snow in State College, but it will be very cold.

“Temperatures won’t get out of the 20’s,” Kines says. “When you factor in wind it should feel like the single digits out there.”

Kines says people should be extra cautious on the roads over the next couple of days.
