In response to the five year anniversary of the first prisoners being brought to Guantanamo, several groups around the world have set up an International Day of Action to shut down the U.S. run prison.
In Washington D.C. today, protestors will be marching from the Supreme Court to the U.S. Federal Court.
As a local effort to participate in the action, the State College Peace Center will be holding a special vigil tonight, Thursday, Jan. 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at College Ave. and South Allen St. Participants are calling for the closing of Guantanamo and also saying “no” to Bush’s Iraq War escalation.
