The Borough of State College has announced several temporary traffic and parking changes to help accommodate the Penn State student move-in days.
On Friday and Saturday, moving traffic on the 600 block of East College Avenue will be limited to one lane between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., police said. That will allow students returning for the fall semester to use one lane to unload vehicles.
During those hours, police said, some minor traffic delays are expected on East College between South Garner Street and University Drive.
In addition, some parking rules will be eased. From 2 a.m. Thursday through 2 a.m. Aug. 25, the borough will not enforce the 2 a.m.-to-6 a.m. restriction posted on many streets. That will give students some leeway to obtain parking permits from their landlords and apartment complexes, the borough said in a written announcement.
Further, for several days, the borough will not enforce posted one- and two-hour parking limits. Those limits will be lifted from noon Thursday until 6 p.m. Aug. 25.
All other normal parking rules will continue to be enforced, according to the borough announcement. The full text is posted on this borough web page.
Classes for the fall semester at University Park are scheduled to begin Monday.
