Two former State College standout wide receivers will continue their football and academic careers at Slippery Rock.
Brandon Clark, who spent the 2018 season as a preferred walk-on at Penn State, announced Tuesday on Twitter that he would be transferring to Slippery Rock. Cohen Russell, who completed his senior season in the fall, also wrote on Twitter that he has committed to The Rock.
‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported me while at Penn State,’ Clark wrote. ‘I have learned so much from the staff that will forever benefit my future endeavors.’
Clark was an all-state wideout and team captain during his senior year for the Little Lions, when he led the team with 51 catches for 891 yards and 16 touchdowns. He was named team MVP and played in the Big 33 game.
But an ACL injury sidelined Clark for his freshman year at Penn State.
‘In particular I would like to thank Coach Franklin, Coach Pry and especially the Trainer Room for getting me through my ACL injury,’ wrote Clark, whose father, Bruce, was an All-American defensive end and Lombardi Award winner for Penn State in the late 1970s.
Clark also was a starter for the Little Lion boys basketball team and a state qualifier in the triple jump for the track and field team.

At Slippery Rock, he will join Russell, who also had a preferred walk-on offer from Penn State and a scholarship offer from Clarion.
As a senior in 2018, Russell earned all-state honors for the second consecutive year and was a versatile star on both sides of the ball for Coach Matt Lintal’s district champions.
The speedy slotback caught 39 passes for 843 yards and 11 touchdowns and ran 41 times for 299 yards and two touchdowns. As a defensive back, he had 61 total tackles and an interception.
Like Clark, Russell is also a multi-sport standout for State High, winning a silver medal in the 100 meters at last year’s PIAA track and field championships.
After a great visit at Slippery Rock University I’m glad to say in committing to #TheRock pic.twitter.com/3an9uiK0WU
