State College Area High School sophomore Sally Stahl was selected to compete for the Central Pennsylvania team at the U.S. Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament this weekend.

The Central Pennsylvania team will join regional teams from the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia areas representing the state at the annual tournament featuring teams from around the country. High school-aged players are selected through regional tryouts in the spring.

The tournament is considered one of the marquee college recruiting events. It will be held Saturday and Sunday in New Haven, Conn., on the campus of Yale University. The Central Pennsylvania squad will open pool play against San Diego.

Stahl, a midfielder and attacker for the Lady Little Lions, notched 32 goals and 12 assists during her sophomore campaign this spring as State College went 7-8 on the season. She was also a member of the District 6 champion field hockey team last fall.

Stahl was named a Mid-Penn Conference second team all star following the 2017 season. She was joined by State High junior defender Kristina Hughes. Senior midfielder Brielle Curtis was named an honorable mention all star.
