State College will see some cool temperatures in the lower 70s next week, but will face a weekend of humidity and storms first.
Accuweather senior meteorologist Paul Walker expects “humidity will gradually start returning throughout the weekend.” Saturday will kick the weekend off with an expected high of 80 and the chance for scattered storms.
Just like the humidity, this weekend’s temperatures and chance for storms will increase through Sunday. Whereas Saturday has the potential for “spotty” storms, Sunday is expected to bring “strong storms and gusty winds” later in the day.
Walker says this increased chance of storms will last through Monday morning. While some areas may see “barely enough to get the ground wet,” others may see up to a half-inch of rain.
These rainy days come with a reward: Monday has an expected high temperature of 73, which is ten degrees lower than the average for this time of year.
“The front coming through that’s bringing us the showers and storms will be followed by a cool air mass coming down from Canada,” Walker says.
This air mass will keep temperatures in the low 70’s though the middle of next week. Though the humidity will still be relatively high, Walker still expects next weeks to feel refreshing, instead of “feeling warm and sticky like it will over the weekend.”
