Two Men Arrested at Local Motel, Charged with Possession of Heroin

Two men were arrested and arraigned on various drug charges after a Centre County Drug Task Force search and seizure returned bags of herion, a dozen grams of marijuana, cell phones and cash. 

According to a press release from the State College Police, on Tuesday, members of the Centre County Drug Task Force obtained information that drug sales were being made out of Room 212 of the Imperial 400 Motel, 118 S. Atherton St.

Task Force officers subsequently filed for and obtained a search warrant.

Task Force officers and agents from the Attorney General’s office executed the search warrant in the early evening, police said. The search resulted in the seizure of 75 bags of heroin with a street value of $1,875, approximately 12 grams of synthetic marijuana with a street value of $200, cell phones and $915 in cash.

The men, Nathan Banks, 28, from Williamsport, Pa., and Daniel Dade, 31, from Duryea, Pa., were arrested and face separate, albeit similar, charges:

• Banks was charged with three counts of possession with the intent to deliver, two counts of criminal conspiracy to possession with the intent to deliver and three counts of possession of a controlled substance, police said. 

• Dade was charged with one count of possession with the intent to deliver, two counts of criminal conspiracy to possession with the intent to deliver and three counts of possession of a controlled substance, police said. 

Both men were taken to the Centre County Correctional Facility for booking and arraignment. They were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Thomas Jordan who set bail at $50,000 straight cash bail each.

Both Banks and Dade have prior federal arrests for drug distribution, according to police. A Federal Parole Detainer was placed on Banks, who was charged with three counts of possession with the intent to deliver to Dade’s one count.

Police said they believe that the men were in the area only to distribute the drugs. Police said there has been a noticeably ‘disturbing trend’ in Centre County that is the increased use of heroin.

Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller will prosecute the charges announced on Wednesday against Banks and Dade, police said.
