State College police say witnesses assisted a man in cardiac arrest, which included performing CPR, following a crash Tuesday morning.
According to police Bryant Musser, 66, of Centre Hall was in cardiac arrest following a one-vehicle crash about 10:15 a.m. at East Park Avenue and Hospital Drive.
Musser’s pick-up truck went over an embankment and traveled roughly 40-feet before coming to rest against a tree.
Witnesses pulled Musser from the vehicle and began CPR, police say.
Centre Life Link and Mount Nittany Medical Center medics arrived on scene and continued resuscitation efforts. A State College police officer also used a defibrillator on the victim. Responders then transported Musser to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment.
“It was a team effort, and God, of course,” says State College Police Lt. Keith Robb.
Police say it appears Musser suffered from a medical episode prior to the crash.
