Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has appointed two new members to the Penn State Board of Trustees to replace two gubernatorial appointees whose terms have expired.
Wolf appointed David Kleppinger and Alex Hartzler, members of the class 1977 and 1990, respectively. Kleppinger and Hartzler will replace Cliff Benson and Paul Silvis and their terms will last until July 1, 2019.
Kleppinger graduated from Penn State with a bachelor’s degree in political science and went on to earn his law degree from Temple. He is the current chairman of the law firm McNees Wallace & Nurick where he deals primarily with consumers of fixed utility services, such as electricity, natural gas, water, wastewater, and communications from large industrial and commercial retailers.
Hartzler earned his bachelor’s in economics from Penn State before going to George Washington for law school. He is a managing partner and founder of WCI Partners, a real estate development company in Harrisburg. Hartzler also currently chairs the board for Ten Thousand Villages, a nonprofit that markets handcrafted products from disadvantaged artisans, and publishes “TheBurg.”
The Pennsylvania Governor appoints six trustees to the board. Kleppinger and Hartzler will join Board Vice Chairman Mark Dambly, student trustee Allie Goldstein, Bob Capretto, and Elliott Weinstein as the gubernatorial members on the Board.
