Penn State picked up a rare recruiting win in Florida in the class of 2022 with the commitment of four-star defensive tackle Zane Durant, who developed into a starter for the Nittany Lions.
A strong 2024 campaign featuring 42 tackles, three sacks and 658 snaps had Durant drawing NFL buzz, but he opted to return for his senior season at Penn State. Though his production dipped, Durant totaled 25 tackles, four sacks and an interception in the fall. His ability as pass rusher was evident, but a lack of size sometimes allowed him to be pushed around in run defense.
Durant improved as a tackler throughout his career, making a strong case to be drafted. During the pre-draft process, Durant said he’s seen interest from the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders and Cleveland Browns.
“I’m just kind of trying to keep a tunnel vision,” Durant said. “Just keep trying to get better every day and try to become a good football player as much as I can.”
