Former Penn State big man John Harrar will take the court on behalf of Penn State coach Micah Shrewsberry’s old stomping grounds, representing Purdue men’s basketball as part of the 2022 edition of The Basketball Tournament. The team announced Harrar’s addition to the roster earlier this week.

The five-on-five tournament begins on July 16 and ends on Aug. 2 with the winning team taking home $1 million. Harrar’s team, Men of Mackey boasts a nine man roster headlined by former Boilermaker great and Big Ten analyst Robbie Hummel. Hummel was a national standpoint and All-American in 2010 and 2012 although knee injuries would eventually take their toll on his career.

Shrewsberry was an assistant coach during two different stints under head coach Matt Painter before taking over as the Nittany Lions’ head man last season. As for his part, Harrar put up 15 points and 12 rebounds against Purdue in his final game as a Nittany Lion in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.
