BOALSBURG — Last year was sweet for the St. Joseph’s Catholic Acaedmy girls’ basketball team as the Wolves made it to the Sweet 16 in their first-ever trip to the state playoffs. With eight letter winners returning this year, fourth-year coach Katie Sosnoskie is hoping to build off of that success and push the pace this season.
“Our expectation is to continue to build on the strong foundation and culture our senior class has established since their freshmen year. Our players will continue to strive for greatness both in the classroom and on the basketball court,” said Sosnoskie.
Back in the fold are Camryn Eby, Brynn Hershbine, Sophia LaPorta, Emma Mallison, Maggie Mangene, Lauren Ott, Kathleen Simander and Kate Youngmark, all letter winners a year ago. Notable newcomers include Rachel Futula, Ruthanna McMurtrie, Brigid Scanlon and Morgan Wolf.
Assistant coaches Carly Wheaton and Ted Glusko are on board to help Sosnoskie get the team to “play hard, smart and together” in order to reach their goal of building upon the success of last year.
“Our team strives to get better every day,” said Sosnoskie. “We continue to have the goal of winning districts and competing in the state playoffs for the second consecutive year.”
