Warren L. Foust, 82, of Centre Hall, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey.

He was born October 9, 1926 in Centre Hall, a son of the late James M. and Elizabeth L. Graden Foust.

He married Mildred M. Swatsworth on April 8, 1948 who survives at home.

Warren graduated from Centre Hall-Potter High School with a perfect attendance record. He completed all of the requirements to be an Eagle Scout prior to going to the Army.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II from January 5, 1945 to October 29, 1946. Warren served with the Cannon Company 17th Infantry Regiment, earning a Good Conduct Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, a World War II Victory Ribbon and an Army Occupation Medal (Japan). He also earned the distinction of being recommended for further military training.

Warren worked for many years as an automotive and heavy truck mechanic, later working for the U. S. Postal Service in Centre Hall, then transferring to State College, retiring as a mail clerk.

Mr. Foust was a life member of V. F. W. Post 1600 in Bellefonte, a life member of the American Legion National Headquarters at Wormleysburg, and was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1600, State College. Among the things he enjoyed most were hunting, and working in his shop doing mechanical work and woodworking. He also enjoyed square dancing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Sharon L. Miller and her husband Todd of Dover, PA; two sons, Wayne A. Foust and his wife Dianne, and Stephen L. Foust and his wife Carolyn both of Centre Hall; four grandchildren, BU3 Petty Officer 3rd Class William J. Miller and Midshipman Christopher K. Miller, and Michelle C. Collison and her husband Dr. Craig Collison, and Heather Zimmerman and her husband SFC Donald Zimmerman; six great grandchildren, Klay and Carl Zimmerman, and Taylor, Chase, Caroline and Lydia Collison; two sisters, E. Darlene Brooks Heller of State College, and Ruth Zonge and her husband Harrison (Pete) of Lemont; and two brothers, Donald Foust and his wife Ruth of Centre Hall and Robert Foust and his wife Pauline of Belleville. Preceding him in death were six additional Siblings.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p. m. Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall. The funeral will be at 11:00 a. m. Friday July 10, 2009, at Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA with the Rev. Judith Hulslander and the Reverend Dean Rupe officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, Centre Hall.
