Thomas James Moore, 60, of Bellefonte, passed away quietly at home on Friday, August 9, 2024. Born on April 21, 1964, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Francis “Ducky” Moore and Barbara (Gmerek) Moore, who survives at her home. On June 20, 1998, he married his beloved wife, Nancy (Schneider) Moore, who survives at home after sharing 26 years of marriage together.
Tom was a graduate of State College Area High School. After school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves for 20 years. He spent much of his working career at Sound Technology, where he manufactured medical device probes.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, and mother, Barbara, he is survived by his son, Riley, two stepsons, Benjamin and Colin James “CJ” Samples, and a step grandson, Jaidee. Also surviving is his sister, Theresa Heaton (Gregg), and his brother, Randy Moore (Karen), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a cousin, Mark Kitko, and an uncle, Father Ronald Gmerek.
As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed sharing his passion for the outdoors with others throughout the years. Most of his free time was spent going hunting or fishing, but he could also be found restoring family heirlooms. Friends will remember Tom for his outgoing personality and being able to strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He truly never met a “stranger.” More than anything, Tom was a devoted father. He treasured the time that he spent with his son and stepsons. When they were younger, Tom would help with their boy scout troops. They could always depend on him to be there to offer support and encouragement, regardless of what kind of challenges they faced.
A beloved husband, father, stepfather, son, brother, and friend, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 5:00 – 6:00 PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will directly follow, beginning at 6:00 PM, at the funeral home, with Pastor Tim Yates officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
