Penn State Men’s Basketball Lands Commitment from Micah Shrewsberry’s Son Braeden

Penn State men’s basketball didn’t have to look far for the first verbal commitment of its 2023 recruiting class as Braeden Shrewsberry, the son of head coach Micah Shrewsberry, announced Wednesday on Twitter that he will stay in State College and play for his dad.

The younger Shrewsberry recently attended Indiana’s West Lafayette High School his freshman and sophomore years but now plays for State College Area High School after moving with his family to the area following his father taking over the job at Penn State.

According to the 247 Network, Shrewsberry – who hits the scales at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds — is listed as the No. 8 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania for the 2023 cycle. Shrewsberry is currently unranked by most recruiting services, although the 247 Network does list him as a three-star prospect. The vast majority of 2023 prospects are not yet ranked.

Shrewsberry chose Penn State over St. Joseph’s, as well as George Washington and Xavier.

Penn State recently signed the nation’s No. 24 overall recruiting class. It ranked No. 5 in the Big Ten and is five commitments deep.
