Corey Feldman Loses Special Olympics Gig, Blames Spikes

by on July 27, 2015 4:03 PM

Corey Feldman has been ousted as the host and entertainer at the City Hall Torch Ceremony for the Special Olympics because of some negative statements made by the State College Spikes.

Although the reason for his performance being cancelled wasn’t made clear to the former child movie star, Feldman feels that the Spikes apology had something to do with it.

“I do not blame anyone that has anything to do with the Special Olympics for making this decision as they are only doing what they feel best protects the athletes and all involved from unnecessary negative press,” Feldman said in a statement. "I do however take issue with Scott Walker of the Spikes minor league baseball team for releasing this defamatory and untrue story to the press.”

Feldman and his band, Corey’s Angels, were special guests at a Spikes game on July 19.

They weren't expected to do a musical performance but Feldman and his "angels" put on a show for the people that stuck around after the game. They sang an original song, "Ascension Millennium", which was certainly something the audience did not expect.

According to Spikes management, the reason for the apology wasn’t because of Feldman’s performance. It was because he failed to meet his contractual duties, such as meeting with the fans and signing autographs.

The apology by the Spikes was released on July 20.

Besides the formal statement, Feldman also took to social media to express his feelings on twitter.
