Bradley’s Opens 2nd Location

An eatery that has been serving cheesesteaks, hoagies and more to hungry diners in downtown State College for nearly 10 years is now offering its menu at a second location.

Bradley’s Cheesesteaks and Hoagies opened at 1669 N. Atherton St. earlier this week.

Owner Ben Lippincott said in June that he had been thinking for awhile about adding another restaurant beyond the original shop at 119 S. Pugh St. and recently signed a lease on the former location of Hog Father’s Old Fashioned BBQ, next to Jack’s Beer’s Shop.

Lippincott said at the time he wanted expand to a slightly different market. Though Bradley’s on Pugh Street has become a popular spot for those living and working downtown, and especially for late-night Penn State student crowds, he wanted to bring his restaurant to those who might not be as inclined to head downtown for a bite to eat.

A post on Bradley’s Facebook page said that current hours for the North Atherton Street location are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The restaurant is offering its full menu of cheeseteaks, hoagies, sandwiches, salads and sides, but is in a ‘soft-opening’ as finishing touches are put on the store.  

In the next week or two, the restaurant plans to move to normal hours of 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and add delivery, according to the post. Bradley’s also is planning to add catering services.

Among the renovations to the store, the dining room has bar-height seating and a large farmhouse-style table, along with new service counters, lighting and digital menus. The location also will have outdoor patio seating.

Lippincott said earlier this summer with a larger kitchen to work with than the downtown location, he’s making additions to the menu as well. The South Philly-style roast pork, which has sometimes been a special on Pugh Street, will become a permanent part of the menu on North Atherton Street.

As for the former tenant of the location, Hog Father’s owner/operator Glenn Kunig said earlier this summer that his lease on the North Atherton Street store was not renewed and that he was working on a lease for a new location.

The new location hasn’t yet been revealed, but, in the meantime, Hog Father’s is still open for catering services, working out of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
