Road work is under way on Route 322 at Port Matilda Mountain stretching to the Philipsburg State Police Barracks and will likely cause travel delays in the area, according to PennDOT.

The project will improve the driving surface and upgrade drainage and guide rails. Pipe replacement begins this week and paving and guide rail work will take place in April and May. PennDOT expects the $1.1 million project to be completed by the end of May.

An alternating traffic pattern and flaggers on the road will be in place during daylight hours.

Rolling Roadblock at Seven Mountains

A rolling roadblock will be in effect at about noon on Wednesday, March 9 on the section of Route 322 at Seven Mountains.

The roadblocks will allow Century Link to install new cable across the highway and attach it to utility poles. The work should take until approximately one hour. Traffic will be stopped and slowed along Route 322 eastbound and westbound in the Seven Mountains area during that time.

Pennsylvania State Police will be on hand for additional safety. The project has been rescheduled twice due to inclement weather.
