FRIDAY
Pop Up Exhibition & Gallery Talk
The Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State hosts the pop up exhibition ‘Little Indulgences: Self-Fashioning and Identity,’ curated by Megan Wanttie, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a gallery talk at 12:10 p.m.
Martin Luther King Jr. Evening Celebration
Penn State’s weeklong commemoration of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. culminates with the 34th Annual Evening Celebration, featuring speakers Angela Rye and Marc Lamont Hill, at 5:30 p.m. in Schwab Auditorium. Free and open to the public but seating is first-come, first-served, with priority entrance for Penn State University Park students
WiseCrackers Comedy Show
WiseCrackers Comedy Club is back for a new season in a new location, the Basement Nightspot, 112 W. College Ave. This weekend’s shows start at 7 p.m. (doors at 6 p.m.) on Friday and Saturday and feature Joe Bronzi, headliner Mick Thomas and emcee Emily Walsh.
Arthur Goldstein Quartet
The Arthur Goldstein Quartet returns to kick off of the State Theatre’s 2019 Jazz in the Attic series at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12.50 for adults and $8.50 for students.
Penn State Sports
Nittany Lion track and field hosts the Penn State National Open at 4 p.m. in the Multi-Sport Facility and Ashenfelter Indoor Track; men’s volleyball faces McKendree at 7 p.m. in Rec Hall
SATURDAY
K-12 Art Show
It’s the final day to catch this exhibition showcasing the artistic talents of State College Area School District students. A closing reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the HUB-Robeson Galleries, University Park.
Bellefonte Parents Night Out
Children ages 5-12 can enjoy a fun from 5-8 p.m. at the Bellefonte YMCA while parents get some much needed time of their own. Children will enjoy snacks, Pizza Mia pizza and organized games. Open to members and non-members. $10 per participant. Register here.
Bingo Benefit
A cash bingo with more than $1,000 in cash prizes and benefiting Centre Bulldogs youth football and cheer organization will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Teamsters Local 8 Union Hall, 2225 High Tech Road, State College. Try A Little Tenderness
The 8th annual Strawberry Fields benefit concert hits the State Theatre stage at 7 p.m.. Local musicians such as Lemont, The Screaming Ducks, Miss Melanie & The Valley Rats, Pure Cane Sugar, Skoal Brothers and more will perform songs for this year’s theme, ‘Try a Little Tenderness: A Celebration of Soul Music & Social Change.’
BodyTraffic
Los Angeles contemporary dance company BodyTraffic will make its Penn State premiere with a 7:30 p.m. performance at Eisenhower Auditorium. Described by a Los Angeles Times critic as “one of the most talked-about young companies, not just in L.A. but nationwide,’ BodyTraffic will perform a selection of dances by its growing roster of affiliated international choreographers.
FUSE Cabaret
Enjoy an evening of song as FUSE Productions begins its fifth year of musical theater cabarets at 7:30 p.m. in Singing Onstage Studios, 1108 S. Pugh St. $5 suggested donation.
Acoustic Brew Concert
Pioneering cello player, singer, composer, and educator Mike Block performs at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Acoustic Brew Concert Series at the Center for Well Being, 123 Mount Nittany Road, Lemont. Tickets are $18. A free family concert (donation to the artist suggested) will be held at 4 p.m.
Mulebone
Blues and roots duo Mulebone, featuring singer/guitarist Hugh Pool and multi-instrumentalist John Ragusa, stops at Elk Creek Cafe & Aleworks, 100 W. Main St. in Millheim, for an 8 p.m. show. Tickets are $12.
Penn State Sports
Track and field hosts the Penn State National Open at 10:45 a.m. in the Multi-Sport Facility and Ashenfelter Indoor Track; men’s lacrosse welcomes Army for a noon scrimmage at Holuba Hall; men’s basketball takes on Rutgers at 4:30 p.m. in the Bryce Jordan Center; men’s gymnastics hosts Nebraska and women’s gymnastics hosts Minnesota in a double dual at 4 p.m. in Rec Hall; men’s volleyball plays Lindenwood at 7 p.m. in the Rec Hall South Gym
SUNDAY
Author Talk
Author, Penn State professor, StateCollege.com columnist and former reporter and editor Russell Frank will speak at 2 p.m. at Centre Furnace Mansion, 1001 E. College Ave., as part of the Centre County Historical Society’s Henszey-Pyle Author Series.
Collaborative Painting Workshop
The Makery, 209 W. Calder Way, will host a collaborative painting workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. to benefit the Dyslexia Reading Center of Central PA! Art instructor Maure Irwin-Furmanek will guide you in using a variety of traditional and nontraditional tools to collaborate with a loved one to create a painting inspired by Kandinsky. Each ticket purchases one 18 X 24 inch canvas and a reservation for you and your guest. Tickets are $75 and must be purchased online here.
Palmer Museum Docent Choice Tour
Stop by the Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State on Sunday afternoons for a unique themed tour led by one of the museum’s knowledgeable docents. Tours begin at 2 p.m. in the Christoffers Lobby and last approximately 45 minutes. This week’s tour is ‘Learning to Look,’ with Vinnie Scanlon.

Women’s tennis hosts George Washington at 10 a.m. and Towson at 3 p.m.; women’s basketball takes on Rutgers at 2 p.m.
